DEADLINE, NOON THURSDAY MAY 14

We will be going to Wonder Lake State Park for an easy hike of about 5 miles.

This is a recent addition to the NY State Park system and these trails only opened in the last few years. This is still off the beaten map, so its a great place for us to explore. There are no facilities at the park.

This time of year is still a good time to hike, with temperatures in the low to mid 70s. Looks to be great weather, however any last minute significant chance of rain cancels the hike.

The hike features a scenic PRISTINE POND and some views. We will then go to nearby FAHNESTOCK STATE PARK, where we will have a LIGHT DINNER at Pelton Pond. There is also A NICE SHORT HIKE around Pelton Pond for those who want more hiking.

Hope to see you at the event! See below for all of the details

DIFFICULTY AND LENGTH OF THE HIKE

The hike is easy, 5.1 miles long. It has some slight elevation changes, but not a great deal of heights. Its a 4 on a scale of 1 to 10, and you should bring HIKING SNEAKERS OR BOOTS IF POSSIBLE. This is able to be hiked by a beginner but only if you can easily walk 5 miles. We will be hiking and exploring for about 4 hrs on the trail, so plan your clothing and food accordingly.

BRING LUNCH, AND WE WILL HAVE A LIGHT DAIRY AND PAREVE DINNER AT THE END WHICH I WILL SUPPLY.

To see a description of a portion of this hike, visit the link below - we will be doing a longer version of the hike, about twice as long which is why our hike is longer..

WEATHER AND RAIN

The weather right now is for a good day for hiking - Cloudy and temperatures in the low to mid 70s. Any SIGNIFICANT CHANCE OF RAIN IN THE FORECAST WILL CANCEL THE HIKE. I will send a note out on Friday to those coming with a weather update.
